I mentioned it upthread, but one of the huge reasons for writing the latter half of this was because the show made things look way, way too easy – and I'm a big stickler for people earning their miracles. Besides, for a show I watch perhaps primarily for the characters, they really blew a chance for some phenomenal character development when Daniel came back, and I still haven't completely forgiven them.
It was such great fun, and so endlessly rewarding, to play around with the characters' preconceptions and reactions, and feel out the interplay between the points where they understand each other too well and the profound disconnects where they don't. They're so... contextual, both with each other and with their situations and environments. It's always a source of fascination to me, even when I'm the one writing them.
