I wasn't expecting all the little bits to come together as well as they did, especially the odd metaphor of monkeys and eagles and hunting snakes. (Jack's shoulder eagles especially. Didn't think of those until weeks after I'd written the eagle-and-monkey snippet.) I swear my brain knows its business better than I do.
