magibrain: Hope you like eels. It's EEL SEASON out there. (It's EEL SEASON.)

The conlang used in the movie bore so little resemblance to the language used in the series it made my brain hurt. I mean, even the phonological profiles! WTF!

...er, by which I mean.

I feel like fear and the promise of advancement and reward is at least as important to most Goa'uld as true belief, at least so far as keeping the Jaffa nearest them in line goes. I mean, anyone with half a brain can probably tell that the assertions made by the Goa'uld don't pass the test of reality, but when you'll be executed for saying so and no one would hear of it anyway because the propaganda goes out right and there's nothing much to be gained by speaking up and at least something to be gained by playing the good soldier, why fight it? With that sort of a setup, there's no real need to worry about a Jaffa asking inconvenient questions about an ashrak. Who cares if they know, so long as they do what they're told and come back and get praised for it?

...then again, I may be viewing all parties as more cynical than they were intended to be. Either way, though, I don't get the feeling that Apophis has a lot of room in his life for the consideration of risks.

They may meet again! I don't know. I do want to return to this concept and play with it, more.
