Lovely handling of Neal's relationship with Kate, especially since everything we see is filtered through his perceptions, so all we know is what he knows.
And I loved this bit:

Awwww, NEAL. There's something kind of sweetly messed-up about the way that this actually appeals to him; his life has been so full of upheaval and uncertainty that he appreciates the fantasy of consistency even if it's just taking him back to prison. Nice foreshadowing of their future relationship, too.
