There's a lot to chew over here. I particularly like the atmosphere you've created, with its shimmer of unreality in the midst of normal (for the SGC, anyway!) daily life. The Hammond POV is very effective, and very affecting. (I'm glad he didn't go through the Gate.) Lovely story!
