And I was sort of getting at this before, but I didn't know quite what my point was. (That happens to me a lot.) Lawrence isn't spiteful. He doesn't, as you said, stick it to Peter. If he wanted to stick it to Neal, he could have let his demons kill Neal or refused to send Neal home, but he doesn't do either of those things. Though maybe that's just giving him the "not as big a jerk as you could have been" award.
