Okay, no, seriously, which of you people got me started on the Steerswoman books? Because now I've read all four of them, and there aren't any more, and the mystery is still unraveling.

It took me a while to really get into them – they seemed kinda dry and emotionless/distant/bland, right when I started reading, and also kinda plastic and generic. And then I kept reading and just fell in love with the worldbuilding (I love it to frustrated little pieces), and I want to hang out with Rowan forever, and chill with Bel from a safe distance.

Lots of Awesome Badass Science Ladies, lots of navigating the truth and how the truth is used for and against people, lots of meditation on the nature of deception, lots of the scientific method leading people both into blind allies and to brilliant revelation, lots of little shivers of "Oh fuck, suddenly I know what's going on here, fuuuck..."

So. Yeah. I'd recommend them. With the caveat that ARGH WE'RE ONLY LIKE HALFWAY DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE AND THERE ISN'T ANY MORE THAT'S PUBLISHED
