This is absolutely wonderful. As an explanation for that wristlet, of course, but also as a study of so many other things -- Jack and his job and his relationship with Daniel and and and and. (And Jonas!) The timing of the bead-band's appearance is fascinating, and something I never thought about in terms of show canon, although I often think that 'Unnatural Selection' might be the S6 episode where Daniel's absence from the team was most glaring; here they go together. Also, I recently read your 'Menace' post-ep, so it's cool timing for me reading-wise; I often wonder whether, if Daniel had been there on Hala, he would have pushed or forced Jack to make a different decision, or whether Jack's decision would have thrown oil on the smoldering fire of Reese, thrown a bigger wedge between them, or some other flight of metaphor. *g*

Anyway, loved this, and will be reading again and pondering more.
