Hello and welcome to the Magibrain Braintic Emporium, where we specialize in all the various fic-things going on in magistrate's brainmeats. This journal exists to keep the
draegonhawke journal from being irreparably overrun by fandom ramblings on fics that will most likely never come to pass. It also gives me an opportunity to put out a lot of writing that would otherwise never see the light of day (sometimes for good reason), and for you to see what kind of things my brain saddles me with.
For those of you unfamiliar with the magibrain, here's a short explanation: it's what I call the idea-generating part of my imagination. It's what keeps me up at night, pestering me with the Next Big Utterly Implausible Crossover I Could Never Make Good. It's what delivers me rivers of silt which I sift through for the flecks of gold. It's what came up with Beneath a Beating Sun and Darkside, and what constantly distracted me from finishing them because it wanted me to work on The Seven-Lesson Week or Shades of Grey or any one of a thousand other (often bad) ideas. I mock up chat logs with it a lot. It causes me trouble, and I love it.
And here is where I let it go wild. Within reason, of course.
So! Without further ado, some operating assumptions about this journal.
1) Friending - Most of the posts to this journal will be friendslocked, but if you friend me, I'll friend you back. The only way you'll get kicked off the friendslist is if you're causing me problems--stealing my work and claiming it as your own, trolling and flaming, that sort of thing.
2) Feedback - I love feedback, both critical and noncritical. I try my best to respond to feedback of substance. And, since I have no willpower, if you see something you like, enough pestering will probably get me to write it out. But if you prefer just to lurk, I guess that's okay too.
3) Tags - All entries on this journal will be tagged. If they're actual braintic entries, they'll be tagged with fandom and braintic canon. Keep in mind that the braintic canon won't always be the title of the fic in which it is/is not being written--I don't name every random idea that hops into my head. Usually it'll just be a reference word, the name of the planet they're on, an injoke, something. This is why we'll have control posts.
4) Control Posts - A control post is basically an overview of what I know about the canon as it comes to me. (Thus, they'll get edited a lot if I'm devoting mental time to that universe.) They're summaries of the fiction, not the actual fiction.
5) Posts - Most posts will be pretty straightforward. Most will have fiction, classified braintic canon. Control posts will give you more information and some meta information, such as exclusion criteria--why I'm not writing the fic. Sometimes you'll get IDAOFINAW (In-Depth Analyses Of Fics I'll Never Actually Write) posts, which are also always fun.
6) Other Stuff - Enjoy!
