Chapter Summary:

Jack inhaled as he stepped onto PV1-542 – a habit he'd never been able to shake, even when on occasion the smells coming from the 'gate region were less than pleasant.  Usually it was good to take a deep breath of fresh air first thing on a new planet; most of them were untouched, or relatively untouched, wildernesses, invigorating in the absence of car exhaust and smoke and too many people.  Unfortunately, this wasn't one of those.

Title: Beneath A Beating Sun
Rating: "T".
Genre: Drama, Action/Adventure, Angst, Teamfic
Beta: Beta radiation consists of high-energy electrons or positrons and can be blocked by an aluminum sheet. ...what's this about an editor?
Continuity: Canon until sometime season seven, after Death Knell but before Heroes. Then wildly, drastically AU.
Prerequisites: Some familiarity with Ascension and Anubis.
Summary: On an incredible world, SG1 finds a weapon capable of defeating the Goa'uld. But the price of attaining it may be too high. They may have to sacrifice one of their own.

* I've just run the import into AO3, and there are still some formatting issues I need to straighten out.  I'm making no guarantees as to formatting or legibility on AO3 at this time.  (Though if you ask me, I'm of the opinion that it's probably more FFN's fault than the Archive's.)

Title: Antipodes
Rating: "T".
Genre: Dramangst/character study/introspection.
Beta: The term "beta carbon" in organic chemistry refers to the second carbon after the carbon which attaches to the functional group. Organic chemistry is very important in beta-reading.
Continuity: Season 5, tag to Menace.
Prerequisites: Well, Menace. It'd also help to know about Meridian, but you don't need to. Other episodes are referenced, but not pivotally.
Summary: Jack and Daniel have a clash of wills re: moral obligation. When don't they?

Disclaimer: If MGM and I had a clash of wills re: ownership of SG1, they would most certainly win. The opinions expressed herein are the properties of the characters and not of Reece the Replicator-maker. Failure to use this product in a manner consistent with its labeling will probably not result in prosecution by law. Tempers will be hot after heating. Questions, comments and consciences can be left in replies or directed to magistrata(at)gmail(dot)com. Thank you for reading!

Posting Note: I'm posting this now because it doesn't seem to be posted on my journal anywhere. (Odd.) It was written and posted originally to FanFiction.net – which seems to have since eaten all the formatting such as section breaks – circa June, 2006. So it's a bit of an old fic. Don't hold it against me.

Title: Scales
Rating: T.
Genre: Character study/dramangst.
Beta: Several people provided brief but insightful feedback, and I thank them all.
Continuity: Probably sometime Season 3 or 4, but has no real spoilers. Thematic resonance with a lot of episodes such as s4 Absolute Power, s6 Full Circle, and s9 Ethon, though.
Prerequisites: S2 The Gamekeeper is useful, but not essential, to know.
Summary: Intelligence is good. Capacity to act is good. Influence is good. Infallibility is better, but no one has that, these days.
Disclaimer: Only MGM has the right to torment these characters for profit. The opinions expressed herein are the properties of the characters and not of Niccolo Machiavelli. Keep knives out of children. Read at own risk. Questions, comments and catch-22s can be left in replies or directed to magistrata(at)gmail(dot)com. Thank you for reading!

He runs through the Stargate with literal blood on his hands, into the mass of nurses ready to triage and take away. Everything is fast like an accident. )

Title: Ya Vas Lyubil
Rating: T.
Genre: Geekfic, Sam|Daniel friendship, a bit of angst, a bit of humour.
Beta: Nikto. By which I mean, no one. Special thanks do go to my Russian professors, from whom I get a number of the anecdotes used within.
Continuity: Seventh-seasonish, doesn't really relate to any episode.
Prerequisites: Know about the Russians.
Summary: In learning Russian, Sam learns more than a language and realizes that language barriers aren't the only barriers out there.
Disclaimer: Y MGM-a ect' SG-1. The opinions expressed herein are the properties of the characters and not of Aleksandr Pushkin, except, of course, where they are. While I have made every effort to avoid mistakes regarding Russian language and culture, this fic should not be viewed as an authoritative source. Fic should not be used as travel brochure.
